10. Fire Evacuation Procedures

In the event of a fire within your apartment the sprinklers will automatically operate.

10.1 Residents should follow the instructions below:

  • Remain calm and act methodically and speedily.
  • Leave your apartment immediately closing the doors behind you, and activate the nearest RED call point located at each fire escape door.
  • Do not stop to collect possessions.
  • Use the fire escape stairs to vacate the building, DO NOT USE THE LIFTS
  • Report to the concierge desk and inform them of the incident.
  • Do not re-enter the building until the Fire and Rescue Service advises that it is safe to do so and the re-occupation processes have been followed.  

10.2 Should you see or smell smoke in the common areas:

  • Remain calm and act methodically and speedily. 
  • If you find the fire verbally warn other persons within the immediate area by shouting “Fire, Fire, Fire”.
  • Activate the nearest RED call point located at each fire escape door
  • Use the fire escape stairs to vacate the building - DO NOT USE THE LIFTS
  • Report to the front desk and inform them of the incident.

10.3 Upon hearing a Fire Alarm in the common area:

  • Remain calm and act methodically and speedily. 
  • Do not stop to collect possessions.
  • If you have visitors, instruct them to follow you.
  • Ensure you close all doors on the way out.
  • DO NOT USE THE LIFTS 
  • Leave the building by the nearest available exit and move away to a safe distance or to the designated fire assembly point (see below). 
  • Do not re-enter the building until the Fire and Rescue Service advises that it is safe to do so and the re-occupation processes have been followed.  

10.4 Arrangements for the safe evacuation of person(s) identified as being at risk:

Savills have adopted a policy whereby they will make residents aware that it remains their responsibility to affect the safe evacuation of people to their demised areas. It is expected that Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP for disabled people should be prepared in advance by the property management team. The Fire and Rescue Service must be notified immediately if these persons remain within the building.  Savills ensure all residents are fully aware of their responsibilities with regards to the provision of suitable means of escape and fire warning arrangement for disabled persons that may be visiting their property. In this respect, the Regional Facilities Manager is responsible for sending notification to all tenants of the building reminding them of these responsibilities. Persons evacuating the building must make for the designated assembly points in order that they can be accounted for. Once clear of the evacuated location / building, able bodied people assume responsibility for their own safety.

10.5 Supporting people once they have left the premises:

Residents are responsible for their own safety once they have left the premises. Vulnerable or disabled persons should be assisted to the fire assembly point or other safe place if required. This should form part of the PEEP for each premises. Assistance will be provided by the site management team. No one must re-enter the building for any reason, until instructed to do so by the Fire Rescue Service and the re-occupation processes and procedures have been carried out.

10.6 Fire Evacuation Assembly Point

Irrespective of the location of the fire / incident, the designated fire evacuation point for 12 Old St is located in Golden Square Gardens on Bunhill Row. To get there, turn right out of the main building and follow the road straight, past The Crown Public House. In all cases the advice of the Emergency Services will supersede these listed options.
